Bike or hike The Roaring Lion!
A hand-built, 27km mountain trail in southland!
Bikers and hikers – this trail is made for you, literally.
Tom, a fourth generation farmer, hand built a 27km single track loop trail along the Roaring Lion Water race using just a pick-axe. Mad but true!
What makes this so stunning is that it’s 1,000 metres up atop Welcome Rock station
What makes this so stunning is that it’s 1,000 metres up atop Welcome Rock station with absolutely magnificent panoramic views, schist rocks towering over you, giant tussocks, pristine Beechwood and complete and utter privacy.
There’s just you, a few deer, the odd Falcon and 2,000 hectares of Nature’s playground.
And to think it’s only 5 minutes from Garston or 45 minutes scenic drive from Queenstown. Bring your own bikes and if you want to catch a memorable sunset and sunrise then stay overnight at one of our huts or The Red Shed.
